June CL Tan is the critically acclaimed and UK #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of the Darker By Four duology and Jade Fire Gold. Her Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection books have garnered multiple starred reviews from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal, and BCCB, and have been translated into multiple languages. She was one of PW’s Flying Starts in 2021, and Jade Fire Gold was also named one of Bank Street’s Best Children’s Books of the Year.

After obtaining degrees in communications, education, and film, she plotted her escape from academia to fulfill her childhood dream—creating fantastical worlds while consuming copious amounts of caffeine. A Singaporean raised on a diet of teh tarik, classic books, and wuxia movies, she enjoys telling stories that draw on both the traditional and modern to create something fresh to the eye, but familiar to the heart.
